‘The Human Side of Project Management’ Panel Discussion to be Held on Nov. 13

October 29, 2024 | by the Office of Marketing and Communications

Project management is about leading work that has a beginning and an end, like constructing a building or implementing a new system. These projects are frequently measured by whether the work is completed “on time and under budget.” A key factor that sometimes gets overlooked is that the work is done by and through other people.

On Nov. 13, faculty members from Elmhurst University’s Master of Science in Project Management program will present “The Human Side of Project Management,” part of the University’s Graduate Studies Lecture Series.

During this conversation, the faculty panelists will discuss both the art and science of leading people in project-based work. The panelists include:

  • Eric Sanders, Ph.D., an associate professor of management and director of the Master of Project Management program. A scholar-practitioner in organization development and economics, Sanders has practiced as a consultant since 2004 with clients in financial services, manufacturing, health care and non-profits, and previously worked in retail sales and management for 20 years.
  • Frank LaRose, PMP, an adjunct faculty member in the Master of Project Management program. LaRose has more than 30 years of global IT leadership experience and a proven track record for delivering innovative business and technology-enabling solutions. His expertise is in global project management, business transformation and strategic planning.
  • Lori Tompos, MBA ’15, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Business and Economics and founder of Avail Consulting.
  • Chris Wall, PMP, an adjunct faculty member in the Master of Project Management program.

The Graduate Studies Lectures, which cover a variety of compelling topics related to graduate programs offered at Elmhurst University, support the development of lifelong learning and prepare students to thrive as adaptive leaders.

“The Human Side of Project Management” begins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13,

in the Frick Center, Blume Board Room. This lecture will also be livestreamed. Admission is free but reservations are encouraged, at elmhurst.edu/cultural.
