Elmhurst University announced on Oct. 2 that Lia Kampman will join the University to serve as its vice president for institutional advancement.
Selected in a nationwide search, Kampman currently serves as interim vice president for college advancement at St. Norbert College, a Catholic liberal arts college in De Pere, Wis. In this role, she oversees all areas of advancement and serves on the President’s Cabinet. She will begin her role at Elmhurst on Nov. 18.
Elmhurst University President Troy D. VanAken said, “I was very impressed with Lia’s experience in building a strong culture of engagement and philanthropy, and appreciate her emphasis on partnership and collaboration. I know she will bring a wealth of energy and ideas to our leadership team and our campus.”
Kampman said she felt an immediate connection to Elmhurst because of her own experience attending “a similar, comprehensive higher education institution that prides itself on inclusivity and a student-focused experience.”
“Elmhurst University is an incredibly welcoming community,” she said. “I felt that from the first time I spoke with President VanAken and the search committee, and throughout my time on campus during the search process. I look forward to getting to know everyone who cares about the University.”
Kampman joined St. Norbert College in 2020 as associate vice president for philanthropy, where she led the annual, major and planned fundraising teams. She led St. Norbert College’s Support What Matters campaign, which concluded on May 31 after raising more than $128 million and exceeding its $125 million goal.
Before joining St. Norbert, Kampman served in advancement roles at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio; Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa; Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa; and St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
“I am thrilled to join President VanAken, the Elmhurst community, alumni and friends to further the mission of the University,” she said.
Kampman has a master’s degree in philanthropy and nonprofit development from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a BA in psychology and community sociology from Wartburg College.
