The Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present their Winter Band Concert on Sunday, March 15.
Under the direction of John Heath, the Symphonic Band will perform “Flashing Winds” by Jan Van der Roost, and others works, including Percy Grainger’s “Spoon River” and H. Owen Reed’s “La Fiesta Mexicana,” and will end with Roland Seitz’s “March ‘Grandioso.’”
The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of James Hile, will open its portion of the program with “Ecstatic Fanfare” by Steven Bryant and “Aurora Awakes” by John Mackey. Christian Sanchez ’22, a sophomore jazz studies major and saxophone player, will be featured on Bernhard Heiden’s “Diversion.” Other works will include Percy Grainger’s “Molly on the Shore,” Omar Thomas’ “Come Sunday” and “Free Lance March” by John Philip Sousa.
The Winter Band Concert will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information, please contact James Hile at (630) 617-3520 or [email protected].
