On the eve of deer hunting season, Reuben Soady comes to a terrifying realization: he is about to become the oldest Soady man to have never bagged a buck! Fearing the lifelong shame of being branded “the buckless Yooper,” Reuben calls upon his Ojibwa wife’s hunting rituals, bringing along his reluctant father and brother. But unexplainable things begin happening around the Soady Deer Camp, and it becomes clear that Reuben is in way over his head. Jeff Daniels brings rural Michigan to hilarious—and poignant—life in Escanaba in Da Moonlight.
