Sean McIntosh
Sean McIntosh has served as Technical Director, Scenic and Lighting Designer, and Instructor of Stagecraft and Design for the Elmhurst University Department of Theatre and Dance since 2023. Each season he designs, or mentors students in designing, scenic, lighting, and sound elements as well as stage management for every production. Sean is passionate about helping students develop and synthesize the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to successfully work as a designer or theater technician.
Sean was previously Technical Director of the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center, as well as resident designer and Instructor of Stagecraft for the Department of Theater. At Moraine Valley he proudly supported the world premiere of American Griot, which was showcased at the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Midwest Region. He also served as Instructor of Scenic and Lighting Design and Technical Theatre Program Coordinator at Casper College where he had the privilege of working on two world premiere productions with noted playwright Arthur Giron.
Sean’s design work has been seen off-Broadway with The Magdalene, The Musical, directed by Richard Maltby, Jr., as well as with professional companies and academic programs in Boston, Portland, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York City. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design from Boston University, under the direction of James Noone, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from University of Portland.
