Student Organizations
Elmhurst sponsors vibrant chapters of several national organizations devoted to music business, music education, and performance.
These groups offer a wide range of activities. For example, music students can participate in national conferences and job fairs, attend demonstrations and clinics given by top names right here on campus, and make connections in the industry before they graduate.
American String Teachers Association (ASTA)
The American String Teachers Association is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players, helping them to refine and develop their careers. Membership is open to all music majors. Service projects, conferences, workshops and leadership opportunities are available to all members.

Lambda Sigma Psi
Lambda Sigma Psi is a recognition society that acknowledges students’ interest and participation in the field of music. Membership is by invitation to students who have accumulated 10 hours of music courses and have earned a 3.5 grade-point average in music and a 3.25 average overall.

Music Business Student Union
The Music Business Student Union is an organization that sponsors concerts, conferences, events, and speakers on and off campus to promote further education in preparation for a career in the music business industry. Membership is open to all students and is highly recommended for music business majors.

National Association for Music Educators (NAfME)
The Music Educators National Conference promotes awareness of the music field as a profession. Membership is open to all music and music education majors. Chapter members organize guest lectures, clinics, service projects, concerts, and field trips. They also are eligible to participate in state, divisional and national conventions.

Phi Mu Alpha
Phi Mu Alpha is a men’s music fraternity that offers its members a deepened sense of brotherhood and tradition. It gives its brothers a source of strength and a place to socialize with like-minded people who all share a love of music. The Pi Iota Chapter at Elmhurst University prides itself on its musical involvement in the community and nation at large. Its purpose is to encourage and actively promote the highest standards of creativity, performance, education and research in music in America.
