Commencement

Commencement is one of the most meaningful and highly anticipated events of the year, not only for our graduating seniors but for our entire Elmhurst University community.

This Spring, the university will pilot a new commencement experience. We’re pleased to share that the 154th Commencement ceremonies are scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Rosemont Theatre, in nearby Rosemont, Ill.

• Graduate Ceremony at 11:00 a.m.
• Undergraduate Ceremony at 3:00 p.m.

All students who are eligible to graduate this Spring or upcoming Summer term must apply for graduation, regardless of whether they plan to walk the stage at commencement or not. Applying for graduation is the only way to guarantee you are receiving up-to-date information, which is sent via email from commencement@elmhurst.edu.

Graduation Application & Ceremony Reminders

This pertains to all eligible graduates who have NOT applied for graduation. Those who have applied should be receiving updates from commencement@elmhurst.edu. If you applied but have not been receiving commencement information, please email regrec@elmhurst.edu.

If you plan to graduate at the end of the Spring or Summer 2025 term, you must apply for graduation through your Self-Service account by the deadline, April 15, 2025. Instructions for submitting your graduation application can be found at the bottom of this page.

Important Notice: Failure to apply by April 15 means

• Your name and degree distinctions will not be included in the commencement program.
• You will only receive 4 guest tickets instead of the standard allocation of 5 tickets.

Guest Tickets

Tassel is used to coordinate our Commencement ceremonies, as well as guest tickets. They are only issued to those who have purchased their regalia (cap and gown). For instructions on how to claim your guest tickets, click here.

Key Dates

April 4, 2025, by 11:00 p.m. – Last day to order regalia for on-campus pickup at Grad Finale

April 25, 2025, by 11:00 p.m. – Last day to order regalia for shipping

May 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m – 6:30 p.m. – Grad Finale Day 1 (Frick Center, Founders Lounge)

May 8, 2025 from 11:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m. – Grad Finale Day 2 (Frick Center, Founders Lounge)

May 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. – Graduate Ceremony

May 24, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. – Undergraduate Ceremony

How to Apply for Graduation

All degree-seeking students must apply for graduation. It is strongly suggested that students planning to graduate in Spring of 2025 apply as soon as possible.

1. Log into Self-Service via the myElmhurst Portal
2. Choose Academics
3. Select Graduation Overview
4. Click the link to apply and fill out your information

It is crucial that you apply for graduation regardless of whether or not you intend to walk in the ceremony. Applying for graduation ensures that your degree will be posted on time and that you have met all outstanding degree requirements.
