In A Surprised Queenhood in the New Black Sun, award-winning author Angela Jackson traces the literary arc of Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks within the context of Brooks’ life and times. At Elmhurst, Jackson will talk about the book and read from her own Pulitzer-nominated volume of poetry, It Seems Like a Mighty Long Time.
