Community Outreach
Elmhurst University offers a warm welcome to friends and neighbors in the local community and beyond.
Each year, we welcome thousands of community members for thought-provoking lectures, world-class concerts, tours of our gorgeous arboretum campus and much more. We invite you to join them! Here are some of the ways that you can get involved.
Introducing Neighbor News
The University recently launched a new community newsletter, Elmhurst University Neighbor News.
Cultural Events
Join us throughout the academic year for a full schedule of concerts, plays, art exhibitions and lectures. Annual highlights include our Roland Quest and Rudolf G. Schade lecture series, the Elmhurst University Jazz Festival and our traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols.
Music Lessons
Our Community Music Program offers private lessons in voice and 17 instruments, ranging from piano to clarinet to tuba. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced musician, we’ll help you take your talent to the next level.
Summer Camps
Every summer, Elmhurst University welcomes children and teens to campus for a wide range of camp experiences. From acoustic guitar to soccer to math and science, summer camps at Elmhurst offer something for everyone.
Speech Clinic
Our Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic offers speech and language evaluations and therapy for individuals of all ages with communication difficulties. Many services are provided by students in our communication sciences and disorders program, under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Our Arboretum Campus
Take a stroll around our beautiful campus—it’s a 48-acre registered arboretum with nearly 900 trees and plants. A leader in environmental sustainability, the University incorporates green principles in every aspect of campus life.
World-Class Art
Elmhurst University has one of the world’s best Chicago Imagist art collections. Housed in the A.C. Buehler Library, the collection is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
Students for Hire
If you are looking to connect with a potential intern for your business, a babysitter for your kids or a jazz combo for your garden party, Elmhurst students make a great choice. Learn more about how to get started.
Professional Partnerships
Students and faculty frequently partner with area businesses and nonprofits on projects like writing marketing plans, conducting research or creating advertising campaigns. The students get real-world experience, and participating companies get valuable insights.
