Dr. Laury Westbury has an extensive background in perioperative/surgical nursing and education. Her educational areas of interest are with high-fidelity simulated learning, technology and leadership experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels, along with introducing perioperative nursing curriculums to the undergraduate population in nursing. Dr. Westbury’s dissertation research focused on the creation and use of a guided reflection tool in interprofessional simulated learning experiences.
She maintains a clinical practice in the operating room, as well as certifications within all areas of interest. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society, Association of Operating Room Nursing (AORN), International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH) and American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).
