Support Services

Helping You Thrive

At Elmhurst, we support your success through a range of programs and services.

Orientation

The University’s orientation programs help first-year and transfer students make a smooth transition to college life. After orientation, Weeks of Welcome offers a series of on- and off-campus activities designed to build community and get you involved. And the First-Year Student Success Series offers programs designed to assist your academic and social transitions.

Sophomore-Year Experience

The Sophomore Success e-newsletter and Sophomore Success Workshop support second-year students with useful information on upcoming deadlines, extracurricular opportunities and early professional preparation.

Steps to Success

The Steps to Success program assists students in time management, goal setting, study skills and values exploration.

Academic Support

The University sponsors academic support services such as The Learning Center, which offers tutoring in math, reading, writing and study skills. Many academic departments offer tutoring as well.

Access and Disability Services

Elmhurst University provides program accessibility and reasonable accommodations for persons defined as disabled in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Students in Distress

The University is committed to the safety of all community members. The campus’ Care Team serves as the centralized body for communication and follow-up regarding students that exhibit behavioral patterns that raise a concern for their wellbeing or the wellbeing of the campus community.

Students who are experiencing difficulty are referred by faculty, staff, or students to the Care Team, which identifies a representative best positioned to intervene and assist the student.

The committee is charged with coordinating resources to assist referred students and help promote their overall health and well-being.
