Departmental Student Learning Outcomes (SLOS)
Graduates from the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice will be able to do the following after graduation:
- Identify and apply sociological or criminological theories/philosophies to critically evaluate understand social phenomena.
- Use scientific principles to evaluate social phenomena and communicate the findings.
- Identify and analyze the inequity of the social structure to better develop solutions with the goal of informing ethical policy and/or practice.
Sociology Program Student Learning Outcomes
Sociology majors/minors will be able to do the following after graduation:
- Apply sociological concepts and the sociological imagination to past and present social phenomena.
Social Work Program Learning Outcomes
Social Work minors will be able to do the following after graduation:
- Apply sociological concepts to research informed social work practice with youth, individuals, families, and groups.
Criminal Justice Program Student Learning Outcomes
Criminal Justice majors/minors will be able to do the following after graduation:
- Evaluate the structure, function, and process of the criminal justice system, including major subsystems, in the past and present.
