The 15th Annual Elmhurst College Research and Performance Showcase, which celebrates the intellectual and creative life of the campus by sharing students’ scholarly and creative works, will be held on Thursday, May 4.
The Showcase gives students experience in presenting their academic work through oral or poster presentations, exhibits or performances, and enables them to engage with students outside their disciplines, as well as with faculty members, staff and the general public.
This year’s Showcase will feature more than 85 presentations on a variety of subjects communicated in a variety of ways, ranging from musical performances to art exhibitions to research projects. One biology student will talk about his research in developing an algorithm than can aid in early detection of asymptomatic lung cancer, and a political science student will share research titled Crooked Politicians and a Basket of Deplorables: Twitter’s Impact on the 2016 Presidential Election.
The Research and Performance Showcase will begin with an opening ceremony at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, in Irion Hall, followed by oral presentations at 4:15 p.m. Poster presentations and exhibitions will be in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
