A theoretical physicist and one of the most widely recognized figures in science today, Michio Kaku is an international authority on Einstein’s unified field theory and on the ways scientific research can anticipate business trends.
A best-selling author and engaging personality, he appears regularly not only on science documentaries but also on 60 Minutes and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In his latest book, The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind, Kaku examines the science of consciousness.
Kaku will present The Future of the Mind, part of the Roland Quest lecture series, on February 8 at Elmhurst College. The lecture is sold out.
Kaku holds the Henry Semat Chair in Theoretical Physics at The City University of New York, and has been a professor at CUNY for almost 30 years. His goal is to complete Einstein’s dream of a unified field theory, or “theory of everything,” by deriving an equation that will summarize all of the physical laws of the universe.
A popular science communicator and educator, Kaku hosts his own national weekly radio program, Science Fantastic, which airs in 130 cities across the country. Kaku’s work also has been featured in Time magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Discover magazine, New Scientist, Astronomy, Wired, Scientific American, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Kaku’s talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. A book signing will follow the lecture, and copies of The Future of the Mind will be available for purchase. Tickets will not be available at the door.
