Team results
April 22, 2002 - The
Bluejay men placed third and the women were fifth at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate
Invitational (EII) track and field meet last Saturday (April 20).
The men's team placed third and the women's
team finished fifth out of 13 teams at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate
Invitational last Saturday. Senior Kate Strand (Rockford-Rockford Boylan
Catholic) won the pole vault and set the meet record, clearing 10'.
In addition, sophomore Kathleen Brice (Elk Grove Village-Elk Grove)
won the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.77. Several other Bluejay men and women
placed in their respective events.
The Bluejay track and field team will
participate in the North Park University Invitational, beginning at
11: 00 a.m. on Saturday (April 27).
ELMHURST INTERCOLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL
- The Elmhurst men placed third and the women placed fifth out of
13 teams at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational last Saturday.
Strand won the pole vault, clearing 10'. Kathleen Brice won the 1,500-meter
run, with her twin, Erin, in third place and junior Adrien Ricci (Sandwich-H.S.)
in fourth.
Senior Mindy Wolf (Woodstock-H.S.) placed
third in the 400-meter hurdles and fourth in the 400-meter dash.
On the men's side, sophomore John McMillian
(Miami, Fla.-South Miami) was second in the 100-meter dash, while junior
Joe Pontrelli (Wood Dale-Fenton) was second in the 1,500-meter run.
Sophomore John Hartmann (Island Lake-Wauconda) was second in the high
jump, clearing 6' 6".
Freshman Danny Sultz (Interlochen, Mich.-Benzie
Central) was third in the 5,000-meter run, and junior Adrian Henry (Chicago-Steinmetz)
placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. Senior Jason Malmassari (Sycamore-H.S.)
was third in the 5,000-meter steeplechase, an event for which he has
already provisionally qualified for the NCAA national championships.
In the javelin, senior Dan Camacho (Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.-St. Thomas Aquinas) took third, followed by senior
Tom Cartwright (Merritt Island, Fla.-H.S.) and junior Andy Thompson
(St. Charles-H.S.). Finally, senior Adam Less (Davenport, Iowa-Davenport
North) finished third in the long jump.
