Elmhurst College was established in 1871 by the German Evangelical Synod of the Northwest to educate the church's youth to become pastors and teachers. The College has grown into a comprehensive and nationally recognized college that integrates professional education and the liberal arts tradition. Drawing upon its rich heritage, the College continues to affirm Christianity's historic importance in Western civilization, to study the variety of ways that culture influences Christianity, and to examine the world's great religions as irreplaceable expressions of human culture and ultimate reality. |
